I'm not trying to start a religious war here, but I would be interested in hearing any opinions as to the relative merits of each.

I'm in the process of converting a standalone app to being a distributed app (one of the disadvantages of adding our first offsite employee). My first thought was to use CORBA to do this, but another developer is pushing to use Web Services. I'm not married to CORBA except that I understand it a little better and don't know if going through a new learning curve is worth it.

I did some google searches but most of the discussions I found were several years old.

Any thoughts?
