Hey Rob,

You should be using Eclipse or some other decent IDE instead of a plain old text editor. It will make your (and ours) life much easier. In addition to automatically formatting your code nicely (instead of the random indentation above), it will do nifty things like make sure your braces are always matching (by inserting the end one automatically when you type the beginning one as well as by briefly highlighting matching braces when you type one).

And especially if you are not going to use such an IDE, you should be very careful to keep your indentation correct, otherwise tracking down matching braces is just a big waste of your time.

Hello!! I'm so new at learning this Java S&^T! Its sometimes fun to write your new programs when you start to know java a little. Then, after a while you get lost. Things start to blurr, you get pissed and, then BAMM!!! no more patience, no hunger to know, ANYMORE. I enjoyed reading alll of this it was totaly Funny. I' have learned though that Ya'll make newbies not want to ask for help because, you assume that every one is as gifted and quick to learn this language like you probably were. I have been at this for 6 weeks my final exam is MONDAY and the reply I recieved were as if I have been doing this for 4 months. Here, Your replies were as if he has been doing this for 1-2 years that is not how you teach!!! I feel YOU DUDE!!, on your FRUSTRATION!!!

However, I feel them too!!, on trying to help without doing your homework for you.

However, ya'lls method to teach was not a good approach. You could have guided him with a few changes, highlighted them, and then maybe explain why you did what you did,
etc....You DIGGGG? Some people learn from visually seeing where?, and WHY? they made their mistakes.

But KUDO"S for trying to lookout for him!! ONE!

Don't you get it?

Java is just a language, most people who come here don't even know how to express what they want the computer to do.

Changing the code for them would maybe help to get thruogh the exams, but it would not help learning to understand how the mechanism of a program works. And that's the most important thing if you want to be a programmer.

We are glad to help with Syntax errors and so, but changing the logic of a program would mean to support lazyness.

You said "Java S&^T!". So what language do you prefer?
