IDE for JDK 1.5

IDE for JDK 1.5

Can someone recommend me an IDE for JDK 1.5 application developing?
I have JBuilderX and JBuilder2005 and both of them use JDK 1.4.2 Borland Make.
And I didn't like the plugins I found for JBuilderX.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe most IDE's use the JDK
on your machine, they simply have a config file that
points to it. I haven't used JBuilder in years so
it might be different. I believe Eclipse lets you
choose which Java Environment to use on your machine.
Try out Eclipse (you can also download all the neat
little Swing Builder Extensions such as Jigloo - trial
version - personally I prefer to hard code my Swing
Apps).

Don't quote me on this coz I use VI, Kwrite and
Notepad - you'd think there would be a better MS
Text Editor, Wordpad not included(when I'm on my
XP machine).

I would say research on Eclipse though, from the
little I've used it, I figured if I were to use an
IDE, that's where I'd go.

No, it is not the case of JBuilder.
JBuilder installation's brings a JDK. Of course, it allows you to change the target JDK and Compiler too.
But the editor haves a background thread, checking for syntactical & semantic errors and still underlining the new constructions of JDK 1.5 as wrong code. That's annoying.

I heard about Eclipse since version 2.0 but I found it deficient.
Later I got the 3.0.1 and found it much better, but I wasn't ready to migrate then.
Now I see that 3.1 it's definitely superior to JBuilder.
Although it doesn't have a design view to facilitate visual components design.
Does it?
Nevertheless it is dispensable (JBuilder's design view is deficient).
But people around me want to learn fast and easyly,
so if you hear about an Eclipse plugin for it just let me know.

You can facilitate the Visual design by downloading
a Plugin Component called Jigloo. I believe you
simply unzip it in the plugins directory.

I'm not too fond of the Java Syntax it generates
though. Enjoy your Eclipse
