If I'm not mistaken, I believe most IDE's use the JDK on your machine, they simply have a config file that points to it. I haven't used JBuilder in years so it might be different. I believe Eclipse lets you choose which Java Environment to use on your machine. Try out Eclipse (you can also download all the neat little Swing Builder Extensions such as Jigloo - trial version - personally I prefer to hard code my Swing Apps).
Don't quote me on this coz I use VI, Kwrite and Notepad - you'd think there would be a better MS Text Editor, Wordpad not included(when I'm on my XP machine).
I would say research on Eclipse though, from the little I've used it, I figured if I were to use an IDE, that's where I'd go.
