i wrote a simple program consisiting of one Hashtable, and i used the put method, and the program worked good when compiling using JBuilder 2005, but when i tried to use JDK 1.5 i had a compile exception telling me that i used an unsafe statement ( put ) and it refused to compile...
does any one knows what's going on ?

That's really odd.

I use Java 5 with Hashtables all the time and
it compiles perfectly.

BTW just out of curiosity, could you please post
your exact error. Are you sure the arguments
supplied were legal. Maybe your JBuilder uses
Java 4 hence was not as fussy. Sounds like a
problem that would arise in a C++ program as a
result of pointers (just thinking aloud though).

Please post the error, coz I'm also keen to know
what address violations could occur in Java
(its also a learning opportunity).

One,
Spike
