My name is Vijay Sarma, and I work for the non-profit CAISI Project. We provide a free open source software program that integrates agencies working to end homelessness. Many IT professionals are involved, and the idea is to prevent the homeless from slipping through cracks in the system caused by incompatible databases, and eventually see independent versions of CAISI in use around the World.
Those with the best technology win, and as part of our grant we're trying to create some of the best for agencies doing the best over-worked and under-paid jobs they can. The key will be the "integrator", a revolutionary advance in this space, and that's why we're looking for a broad range of input and participation from developers who have suggestions or who can contribute some fantastic code. With the buzz around open source projects we hope ours is a natural fit for innovators looking for a worthwhile end to their efforts.
I'd like to see if any Artima members can help analyze or contribute to the CAISI Project, or if they can suggest how to get more developers involved - we use Java (J2EE), Spring, Hibernate, Struts, Ant and MySQL. Volunteers are crucial to the success of our small non-profit in the giant world of e-health, so we appreciate any help we can get! :)
