Can anyone tell where can i find a tutorial(book or something) about building chat rooms in Java.

I think you should find some material about java
used in network.I have read a book on this
the topic.

Depending on what type of chat room you want to build, swing or servlet ?

Take a look at the http://www.jxta.org/, this should answer some questions on how to !

There are also servlets available on line to create like a message baoard.
