In this book, Frederick Brooks talks about evolution of a computer program to a programming systems product.

In the present world, what are good examples for a programming product, a programming system and a programming systems product?

I can think of an API as a programming product, but what about the other two categories?

(Also, do you guys know of a better forum to discuss software engineering?)
