Any idea where I can get info on Java beginners guide?

Hi,

I need some info on :

example, basic things like 'what does import java.io.*' means.

need all these information for some assignments.

Went through sun's site quite some time ago. But because I am doing the assignment on java, so may need more details which Sun's site is not sufficient to provide all the info.

Any other possible site?
