i need some help with writing to a file. i already have this file created. i have a one record coming back from a result set with 7 fields. i need to write to that file in a fixed length. example

first name is 10 char long, next is last name 8 char long until 256 records are there and then i need to append to the file on a new line... until the next 256 are done.
any help or example format will be appreciated..
