Image resizing

I need to take an image and reduce it to 75x75 pixels.
I've read a few of the bufferedimage posts but am unclear about exactly how I achieve it. Here's the criteria:
1. Read in a jpeg file typical size 200x200 pixels name 10001.jpg
2. Create a new image resized at 75x75 pixels
3. Save the image, call it 10001TN.jpg

Can anyone provide specific code to do the above ?

Hey that was a nice tip. but I'll really like u to help me out. You see i'm a young programmer and i don't really know so much. I created an application with the frame size of (300,300) but any time i run it, the frame refuses to show the panel. it only shows the panel when i maximize it. Cant u help me out??
