Create a photo editor in java??

here is the thing I need to give subscribers in a website a tool to edit photographs. so I thought of developing it in java. I am a bit new to swing but i have a few questions:

how do you deploy the app (every one needs jre which is 5mg size) that would make it big for a download??

how hard it is to develop a photo editor is there an alterntive?

have someone allready done it?

any comment will be appriciated

You could do it, You would have to use the java image and advance imaging apis but you could do it. Id be pretty complex for someone new to java, I know Im not ready for something like that. always use smooth Graphics with antialiasing cause itlooks bad without it
