A .xls file has been created at solaris server. Can someone help me how to download this .xls file to client desktop?

This .xls file is nothing but a text file with a delimiter.

Thanks. I know that it can be done in FTP.
I want to do this in our J2EE application. We have some excel reports which has to be provided as excel down load in the UI screens.
Thanks

You can specify the content-type of the page as application/msexcel and that should automatically launch Excel and start feeding your data into the spreadsheet. In our case, we had a page that was generating CSV formatted files to be imported into Excel. This works with IE, I don't know how well it works with Netscape.
