While I was browsing blog entries today I came across PJ Hyett's post 3 Spring books read. I love this quote about Matt Raible's Spring Live:
For a while I considered Spring Live and Spring in Action interchangeable, but hereâs why Iâm giving the nudge to Spring Live. Because technology changes! The perfect example is the latest changes in Acegi Security 0.8.0. Matt Raible is able to update Spring Live to reflect those changes while Spring in Action is stuck with outdated code.
This is one of the things that excites me most after 1.0 of Desktop Java Live is out the door. If readers would like something added or find an issue, I can do it. If Sun radically changes Swing next week the book will evolve. It should be a fun year.
Now for a book update. The binding and validation chapters are both in tech edit and should be in copy edit next week. Validation (chapter 7) ended up at 33 pages which gives us the magic 250 page number. I'm trying to decide whether Gui-Commands should just be post 1.0. Who wants the book now versus later =)?
