Description: Being seen as the next big thing, Grid is coordination of resource (CPU, Memory, Storage, Disk space, Database etc.) sharing and problem solving in dynamic, multi-institutional environment. Grid is not just a conceptual thing; there are many implementations available in the market place. This resource item (online article) talks about some of the Grid vendors and their solutions.

Abstract: Dechnik plans to move his application to a larger grid of over 100 Pacific-employee desktop PCs. Because a typical desktop user employs only a tiny portion of the available processing power, the application can borrow large numbers of CPU cycles without affecting everyday work. Dechnik estimates a 100-system grid will run each scenario in less than an hour.
