Feed Description: My thoughts on Java, software development and technology.
Mac OS X Tiger has finally been announced, but the big question for Java developers is whether it will ship with Java Tiger.
Java Built-in Java has never looked this good. Built in to Mac OS X Tiger is the latest, certified release of the Java 2 Platform. With improved Code Sense indexing and Ant project templates, Java users can continue to use their standard Java packages and build tools coupled with Xcodeâs key productivity features.
The latest certified release? After chatting to people in the office, the general consensus is that Tiger will ship with Java 1.4.2 but Java 5.0 will be made available via the software update mechanism. It'd be great if we're wrong but, regardless of this, my order has already been placed. :-)
