Although the architecture is different, STAF has some concepts that might be worth a 2nd look. For those that do not know, IBM started the STAF project in 1998. Certainly timing or scheduling running of test cases is an idea that could be re-used.
Some J2ME JVM OEMs, such as Esmertec, do make use of this framework for their TCK testing on their J2ME JVM builds.
