This recent article really stood out for me because it highlights some of the more interesting capabilities of MIDlets. In this case, we use the Mobile Media API to build applications that can manipulate images captured by the cellphone's built-in camera.

One possible niche for such applications would be for people to create picture blogs with their handsets.
