10 year old (Java) and the (number) One. The JavaOne 2005 seems to have rocked the audiences with the NetBeans day. It must have been a great show stopper.

Although, I had not been there (its too :-( costly), but getting the second hand information itself excited me so much.

The first 300 attendees received a free copy of the just published NetBeans Field Guide and a USB drive!!!

So was it really worth a day for this IDE? Indeed!
With speakers like James Gosling, Tim Bray and others with Jonathan Schwartz presenting the key note, it did have something of value.

Among the other good aspects of it, NetBeans session presented the following cool new features:

A collaboration module (now chat with your fellow developers from NetBeans) and the Matisse layout manager (now programming with Swing has got much better).

Also, the project Looking Glass was demonstrated esp. because that too had been developed using NetBeans.
