Well its official folks, Motorola is selling its $88 million stake in Symbian to fully commit to Linux on its handsets according to the Chicago Sun Times article. The $88 million should help in bring up Motorola's R and D up to speed with SmartPhone developments.

With Motorola's announcement of full focus on Java as the application api we should see some new tools coming out shortly to support this cchnge in focus. I wonder how close they are to putting MIDP2.0 on one of their future handsets? Must be very close as to do the Symbian move at this time right befor eprime handset buying season.
