A nice puzzle to solve in creating ServerDefinitionFiles for your particular server for Eclipse-WTP-JST is why in the generic samplels of SDFs is there no definition of the J2EE rara archive or even the correspodning buildfiles definitions for a particular server. You could of course view generic samples as meaning do not include everything to recue confusion.
Or, you could take my approach and use the opportunity to expose the new Eclipse WTP user and the new J2EE developer to an opportunity to educate. In this case why not a generic rar deploy/undeploy definitions with corresponding publsih def hooks in the buildfiles definitions per server.
What does it compare to as far leaving out information, especially to you the new J2ee developer? Its like saying checking user input is optional in any type of web form on servers that run root, such as web servers.
Not to say the generic samples of SDFs are not great, it may even be that these issues are already being addressed but I am not on the WST or JST mailing lists yet to be able to verify that yet. Well, at least I am to the matching SDFs to the BuildFiles Definition portion and should be testing the sjsas_8_1_02 SDf for the server provied with J2ee sdk in the next day or two.
