Enterprises rushing to open source software as a means of cutting down its IT spending are finding Open source is not cheaper, the hard way. According to Meta research director Dr Kevin McIsaac, the costliest of all IT spendings is not the software itself, but the support and to maintain it in-house is not a viable option for many companies. If you are planning on implementing open source Dr McIssac suggests ''Leverage open source to commoditise your infrastructure and implement it in phases as it matures.''
