First, sorry for the title the two JavaOen announcements from SUN open sourcing java technology will not be the full Java Language technology like some of us hope. Despite this eWeek hope open source java article, Sun will most likely lend its talent/efforts to two particular items that are important to open source java advocates.

Sun will announce at JavaOne a concentrateed effort to make sure the Apache Harmony Project will receive a Java TCK cover both the java classes for the language portion and I believe eventually the JVM solution that Harmony eventually releases. The point from SUN managment will be made that now we have dealt with concerns from OSS and FOSS groups about having open source JVMs to use.
