Feed Description: A Weblog about Java programming and digital convergence on mobile devices in such areas as P2P and collaborative technology.
There are several reasons why I am getting the right Debian GNU/Linux install working set-up this week. All the reasons center around JavaME convergence.
One, I am awaiting some project interviews with firms in Boston that involve convergence in the javaMe space. I was suppose to be interviewed yesterday but as with mos tstart-ups its hurry up and wait.
Two, the speed at which new technology ie JavaME JSRs are being implemented on devices is increasing in speed. A sign of this is the current OME SDKs/WTKs are often based on a 2 year old version as in Sun WTK2.2 not Sun WTK2.3 Another sign is the increase in new JavaME JSRs coming to final release.
Thus, I am moving towards a combination MS Windows and Debian GNU/Linux system so that I have the right infrstructure to test not only the MIdlet and Xlets but also the infrastructure that these MIDlets and Xlets interface with in their operation. A large part of the infrastructure with the exception of WTKs and handset SDKs rusn and operates on Linux/Unix better than MS Windows.
