What was it like dosign a search engine mshup and p2p mashup in 2001 that resulted in visitors in excess of 2 million per day? Kind of challenging and exciting at the same time. THe implementation operated at searchnet from October 2001 to about April 2001.

Would have provided more features but the Indy Diblert DomainName Speculators wanted it implemented using MS Access rather than a technically wise solution say using MySQL. Of course, at that time we were dealign with MS JET Engine mangled SQL rather than the more ideal situaiton in MS SQL presently with close to full SQl compliance.

Certainly, the current WEb 2.0 frameworks would have made the design and feature set more robust if I were to redo the same effort today. What might be the most frustrating is that when you deal with Dilbert management staff usually the best approach is to break down a project into the first smallest implemented working module.

By having an extremely small implemented module of the full project you can set about to train and educate the Dilbert Management staff in what challenges and obstacles have to be solved and the actual effort invovled and costs. When Dilbert Management staff insists on no training or experience obtainment effort by themselves and insisting on an implementation with no planning your are blocked and prevent4d from reaching the re-education of Dilbert Management Staff goals that would make any complex project a success.
