To put it in non computer terms that everyone can understand, having 11,000 undeveloped websites/domain name is like having 11,000 vehicles for sale with no engines, no transmissions, not brakes, and etc. Now imagine not having enough mechanics to fix even 1% of those vehicles for sale.
The domain name speculator business model is not maintainable except through such means as click-fraud. Even if a CEO's girlfriend runs off with 1,000 domain names and trie sit herself it will result in zero success.
The only maintainable business model is to get skilled personnel to do web 2.0 development and use less than 1% of those domain names to develop web 2.0 sites that VC's are hot for at this time. In the Indy Domain Name Speculator Start-UP example they only have sold 3 DNs out of 11,000 in ten years. That is a complete failure of the business plan and business model.
It is the type of dot com and computing failure one would expect to read in of Robert L Glass's books on business computing failures.
