Last night saw the first meeting of "The Gathering Formally Known as Meetup" at SOS in Farringdon.
The attendance was impressive, well in to double figures, and the conversation(s) was lively. I think we need to find a better venue next time so that we can all participate in every conversation a bit better. Post any venue suggestions to The London Java Blog
Summary of the conversations I had last night:
Struts vs. WebWork - Which is better? Has anyone used both? Which should we learn
Why dont public service type websites (the tube, network rail etc etc) publish RSS feeds of their data?
One of the guys in attendence (sorry I am really rubbish with names) is currently screen-scraping thetube.com to generate an RSS feed
Why we enjoy OSS development
Why blogs are great - even if noone else reads them they are great archives of the stuff that you have learnt
Has some encouraging comments re: RSSReaper, must get around to finishing it off now that I am fully of renewed motivation
Lots more that has slipped my mind, due to the consumption of "a few beers"
Basically it was a great night, and I can't wit for the next one!
