TWUIK seems to have turned out nice as an application GUI toolkit for JavaME. However, with my experience in contributing to SynclastUI I think I can improve and take the concept in a different direction. Let us just say I am working from JavaME internals outward.
On the Thinlet front developers should start checking out ThinCLet. Basically, according to the design notes ThinCLet modulizes the design of a thinlet by a plugin approach. Of course for MIDP one would have to rewrite to only MIDP specific stuff but it should be possible.
