I once passed the SCJP exam in the old jdk 1.3 times and i have just been thinking about taking the SCJP 1.5 Upgrade exam. In fact i dont need it for everyday life but somehow it might be fun to retake a SCJP test. Then i checked the SUN US training site and found out that 100$ is a fair price for the upgrade exam.
But after trying to checkout my basket with the exam in there, i read that i need to buy it via SUN germany website. After getting there and seing the price, my first thought was : "they must be crazy at SUN".
Lets recap, the price in the US for this exam is 100$, in germany, the same exam costs 243 EURO !!! So the price is trippled! And if all this isnt laughable enough, the upgrade exam costs the same than the full SCJP exam in germany.
Perhaps a german SUN product manager can read this. I dont know how drunken you was when setting up this price but one is for sure, even if my next consulting gig requires SJCP 1.5 (which is unlikely), i wouldnt mind not getting the contract and keep refusing taking this exam for that price. Its not about the price itself, its about the discrimination of german exam takers in contrast to us citizens. Its nearly cheaper to fly to the states and take the test over there!
