Many people confuse where the VMs for J2me came from or derived from so lets clear up a bit of confusion. ExactVM was the JDK 1.2.x version. Sun engineers took ExactVM and the GC interface in EVM(ExactVM also called ReseachVM at Sun) to code a new Compact VM called CVM for J2ME.
