With the early December release of Marathon AlphaOne 0.17 I reminded again of the connections between 2.5 D PC games in the 1980s and 1990s and Mobile Gaming. Thus, far we have ways accessible to JavaME developers to speed up math to the speed of native C through such techniques as shifting to multiply an divide for mobile devices with FPUs.

We also have ways to serialize both the GUI using XUL principles(thinlet) and serializing other items such as contents of strings through the Javaolution library. Than we have reaching the speed of C native game engines by modifying and using modified collections classes.

In other words we have to break classic-java-the-Sun-way to reach JavaME 3D nirvana status among Mobile game players. Both Marathon and Doom do act as causal games due to the story line and play integrated with that story. Hmm...story..what to tell?
