You may be wondering where my research into optimizing 3D in JavaMe is taking me at this moment. This is beyond researching ARM Jazelle cores. The most obvious place to start is the research arms of the major Handset manufacturers, specifically those who may build their own Handset OS or JavaME VM.

Nokia Research has a project called Gramophone. Basically, their researches came up with a NokiaGL 3D engine that they modified to conform with OpenGL ES. You will find the research papers informative and there researches have taught classes in JavaME 3d which are online.
