As you may know Adobe is seting up FlashLite 3 Virtual Machine to optimize for ARM instructions. There are some trends that indicate that combining the JavaME VM and Flashlite VM might not occur at this time.

While on the JavaMe side the MIDP 2.1 VMs will be mixed code, that is both C and java, no sign from adobe of whether the optimization of the FlashLite 3 VM is java based ie integrating with the ARM Jazelle CPU based instruction set which is java byte-code based.

Bot the Adobe and Sun TCK/Compatibility compliance programs have different requirements and processes. However, it may be that some VM OEM comes up with a solution that adds FlasLite 3 VM as an optional component of a JavaME VM stack in the future.

A company to track for validating which trend wins out would be Tao Group or another OEM JVM supplier of Asian handset OEm companies.
