Feed Description: My thoughts on Java, software development and technology.
Another good day at the tutorials, although I only attended one of a possible two because I decided that finishing my introductory session for the "Java in Action" track was more important than going to both!
The tutorial I attended was Mike Keith's introduction to EJB 3 persistence. I vaguely remember attending something similar at JavaPolis in 2005 (I think) but since then I've still not managed to have a play. I'll be talking about this in my inductory session tomorrow, but I think that the persistence part of EJB will be its saving grace. Many many people have been put off EJB for one reason or another and it's going to take something compelling to bring them back. JPA just might be that thing.
Tomorrow sees the start of the conference part of QCon and I'm really looking forward to it. I was looking at the conference guide earlier and I'm amazed at just how many speakers there are and the diverse range of enterprise computing topics they cover. Kudos to the conference team for putting together such an impressive line-up. Since I'm hosting the "Java in Action" track, my session choices for tomorrow are kind of easy. Thursday and Friday are a different story because there is just *so* much to choose from.
If you're in the Java track tomorrow, please do stop me and say hello. :-)
