Glyn Normington of IBM has blogged about the state of modularity in Java and the tension between two apparently competing JSRs: JSR 291 (also known as OSGi) and JSR 277 (along with its little brother JSR 294). Glyn definitely makes the best argument I���ve heard yet in support of JSR 277 ��� mainly because he doesn���t simply ignore the existence of OSGi (or give a whole list of reasons why OSGi Release 3 doesn���t satisfy the requirement behind JSR 277, ignoring the fact that the current version is Release 4 and it answers all of those arguments��� but I digress). Glyn is the spec lead on 291 and a member of the expert group on 277.
