InformationWeek and others may be wrong ab out the Google Phone denial this week. Why?

Google's strongest measure of innovation has always been when they opened up an api to the outside world. They are not going to say buy a mobile applications development company and than lock away the server side apis to go it alone themselves in creating mobile applications. So why apply for a patent for hardware and software and buy an application company?

Think using that expertise of dealing with walled gardened lock in mobile carriers to devise hardware and mobile application plans that finally opens up mobile carriers once and for all for all mobile developers.
