When i bought my Mac roughly a year ago, my first action was to search for a replacement of TotalCommander. To me TotalCommander is simply one of the best shareware apps on windows. Believe me, i tried all available and each and everyone i tried was somehow lame. Nothing compared to TotalCommander. Of course i forget the names of the apps i tried but believe me, i tried them all, must be at least 6 different ones. For example, none of them were able to browse zip archives.
Now a colleague pointed me to ForkLift. Still in beta but this piece of software is really the first serious contender to TotalCommander on Mac. Not so feature rich yet but they are definitely heading into the right direction. I think this will replace my Finder app pretty near in the future. The only thing i am really missing is the “..” folder in the views. I mean i dont want to use the mouse for going back one folder level.
