There is a pattern showing up of every web 2.0 start up from 2003 to now making a last big efforts in getting an IPo or being bought out. The reason is because during the last presidential election VC funds during certain quarters of the year decreased substantially.

If you are a start up without a prototype than you only have 6 months to develop one and get that prototype demoed at a VC meeting as VC funding will not rebound until the last quarter of 2008 or sometime in 2009.
