Feed Description: My thoughts on Java, software development and technology.
I didn't believe it at first, but one year ago today I started blogging. My first blog was hosted on Blog*Spot and I was fairly happy here for a couple of months, although blogging was infrequent. My blogging journey then took me on to Radio UserLand and the blogging started to get a little more regular. Blog*Spot was good, but I wanted more control over things like formatting and more features from a blogging tool. I used their hosting for a little while but eventually signed up with KGB Internet Solutions. Initially this was because I wanted to run some JSP-based applications on the Internet, but after a few months of just ftp'ing the Radio Userland stuff to the site I decided that I wanted yet more control and more features from a blogging tool. In short, Pebble was born.
It's been an interesting experience for me over this past year - learning from other blogs and sharing information through my own. There was an article on JavaPro earlier this week with some guidelines on how to stay up to date with what's happening in the Java industry. It was a good article, but for me the biggest omission was that blogs weren't mentioned. I can honestly say that blogs, and particularly JavaBlogs, have been the easiest and richest way to keep up to date with what's going on here in our little community. I know that there can often be a lot of noise, but generally only the interesting stuff filters through because much of the information and pointers are based on recommendations. I hope you've enjoyed reading my blog over the past year or so, and thanks to everybody else for providing some great content. :-)
