A blog post tries to make the debate points that MS is buying Yahoo for its Engineers and OpenSource. The problem is they compare Apache HTTPD against MS IIS which is an apple and oranges comparison. Why?
Because, Apache HTTPD and MS IIS server different enterprise niches and often overlap. The more heavier enterprise tiers such as JavaEE was never included. There has been a general upswing of companies switching to JavaaEE. I would say it boils down to recruiting software engineers in one swift movement to get thousands rather than any market share of HTTP servers. The fact that they get to harass FreeSource(GPl) in the process I am sure is not lost on them.
