I‘ve recently received some emails from curious MyEclipse users wanting to know what the MyEclipse team is working on these days. So, it seemed apt to take a moment to let you know of the many interesting things in the pipeline. As you might know, we rolled out MyEclipse 6.1 Blue Edition a week ago. This was a big milestone for us, as it represents a further expansion of the MyEclipse product family with an emphasis towards providing IBM WebSphere developers cutting edge technologies and tools in a simple, convenient and affordable (recession proof) tool suite. If you have followed the MyEclipse Professional/Standard product, you already know that rapid delivery and customer responsiveness is the P1 priority for Genuitec, and Blue users will see the same service.
Ok, enough reflection and back to the focus of this blog. Our MyEclipse teams are concurrently working on MyEclipse 6.5 and a number of enhancements for Blue as well. Looking towards MyEclipse 6.5; the theme of this release is "enterprise technology enhancement and refreshment."
Here's the breakdown to this theme, with three new feature sets that we are feverishly working on:
Developer tools for Maven build support
JAX-WS web service support and
Portlet (JSR-168) support
Key MyEclipse features that are being updated and refreshed to the reflect the current state of these technologies include JSF/Facelets, Spring, Hibernate and JPA. In addition to these primary features, we are working on a ton of minor enhancements and fixes.
So you can see there is a lot in the pipeline, and these are just the developments that we can publicly disclose at the moment. We are continuing to work hard to make MyEclipse not only the best Eclipse-based IDE, but the best IDE overall. As we have done in the past, we will incrementally release these features in preview form as part of MyEclipse 6.5 milestone releases.
We'll talk more about the release timeline in a follow up blog, but one final comment: I want to sincerely thank the many of you that over the years have sent us your compliments, best wishes and constructive feedback. It has made MyEclipse what it is today, and is the driver for what it will be moving forward.
