There comes aa time when you need to make an implementation change and if no ones wants to go with it walk away. I did an analysis last year on building facebook like platforms that detailed the developers needed, time of one year to complete an alpha prototype, and etc. And facebook is too far ahead to unseat with only hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Death marches are never fun and you are always short changing yourself on potential future start up value when you agree to any death march development. Not good sense at all. Those are bets no developer can afford or start up founder can afford.
