2. Funding should be in best conditions as possible because you are building a new business and marketing models:

-Angel or VC funding is obvious ideal -Loans or Mortgages are obvious not ideal as terms are immediate as opposed to the 2 to 3 year window required to develop a new business and marketing models.

If you cannot get the ideal situation than get fuck out or change the technology implementation by using someone else's platform rather than build a platform. The developers will demand that you do those actions and will walk away if you do not. Yes, I might have waled more than once from more than one start up.

Choose a hot area to increase funding odds, ie facebook is hot right now with 22% of all VC startup funding.
