Andrei Loskutov is highlighting problems with the Equinox P2 Update manager in his post titled, "Why Eclipse Equinox P2 Update Manager is not good enough for me yet #2". Some of you know him as the person behind Extend VS Presentation. Like many of us he has been using Eclipse since 2.0.

I hope Andre Loskutov continues coverage of this issues as it seems that Equinox PS Update Manger while a good idea might not be there yet as far as having everything in place as far as how does one migrate for the old way of a 3d party plug-in extension location and etc. despite the explanation in bug 22425 we did as Eclipse users use the plug-in extension location to manage plug-ins across one configuration.

Plus, there are some other good points. What happens say if you share those plug-ins on different OS platforms? Some of us have such work flows. It happens in both desktop and embedded work flows as far as I know. It i snot that Equinox P2 Update Manager is not a great idea, but it needs work form the migration standpoint and etc as if long time Eclipse users have problems it indicates migration issues as one of the core ares to work on at this time.
