The real pain difference between Android WebView and iPhone is that most common UI and ajax libs use an anonymous function at the parent root of the javascript library which does not play well with Android WebView requirement of wrapping that javascript call at the native java class level. Of course any ajax calls that call to an anonymous javascript function would have to be changed along with he reference anonymous javascript function.

But this rewriting gets us one code base and using non anonymous javascript functions on the iPhone should not hurt anything.
