Although both Android and iPhone are different projects it appears that the webkit core in the next release for both Android and iPhone will be updated to November 2008 nightlies. That means all the webkit blog posts about new CSS stuff over the past year now applies for this release.
2009 is the year of Mobile Web Applications accessing device functions without limits. PhoneGpa is not the only library to use. QuickConnect is also working towards an Android native library. However, my changes to PhoneGap will be in a new release before QuickConnect manages their port to Android.
Also copy and paste is coming to both platforms. So for what is incldued as far as CSS for webkiit in both Android and one go to these blogs and read all 2008 posts as they have the h9ints of waht is in the webkit Nov 2008 nightluies:
Also remember that with the new register based JS engine we are getting the speed requried for javascript based applications. And because the new JS enigne has VM bytecode we can open Eclips eand wrtie a bytecode inspection tree walker to optimize JS code via buytecodes of the new JS engine in webkit.
Now for the bad news. Google Gears is still limited to only the browser and still is not accessible via webview in both Android and iPhone.
