I've always wondered who eats the "egg platters" at restaurants. You know, you go out for breakfast (or, as we often do, a 11AM breakfast), and on the menu there's pancakes, French toast, migas, omelets, all that stuff. And then there's the 1-3 egg plates where you get something like home-fries or bacon and your choice of toast, English muffin, or biscuit.
Well, I've always thought the egg platters would be no good, and if I ordered them, I'd have wasted potentially good eating experience (I tend to think of meals like that: potential pleasurable experiences. That's what makes eating so fun.) This weekend I ordered the 3 egg platter at the Austin Diner (check out this awesome, bad review..."Combat boots"...yuh!) with home fries and a biscuit.
I got the eggs scrambled, and they were nice and buttery. You can't go wrong with biscuits, and while home fries suck (I meant to get grits...I don't know what happened...I was a little hung over), it was a good meal overall.
The moral of the story, dear readers, is that you should try an egg platter next time you're out for your Saturday, late breakfast (you do that, right?): it's not as poor a choice as it may seem.
(More food psycho-analysis: I kept wanting to spell it breakfest...)
