You may wonder why I have choosen Google Maps are part of my Xspot Loopt clone implementation.
One of the big set backs to Loopt adoption has always been privacy issues as most want GPS broadcast to others as an opt-in not a full broadcast to everyone. At first I as going to implement a very light such feature by making Google contacts the global aspect than something like your opt-in friends at either brightkite or friendfeed as the filter to enable this feature.
