When discussing Android coming to CDMA carriers the press has always ignored cost sin the dicusssion and other factors. With the biggest CDMA users in the US the devices are often co-branded as under the Mobile Operator name and thus these Mobile Carriers always want to lower costs. Until now they would have bore the costs of development for enabling CDMA in Android on the reference platorms they use.
Not any more as Teleca has developed a modification of Android with CDMA enabled that runs on their reference phone. Teleca has stated in the TMCnet article that they will be supplying Android solution sfor both CDMA only and World-mode OEMs in 2009. Teleca has also stated that they will be contributing that code back to the Android Open Source Project.
