Since we watch a lot of F1 (Formula One Racing) during the racing season, we all enjoyed Santa bringing Tom a
Slotcar race-track. So it was all racing and no programming during the holidays.
Engineering development in F1 has impacted commercial vehicles for a long time and today there are about six vehicle-control-moduls (VCM) in the F1 race cars. Most VCM are not based on embedded controllers anymore
but use DSPs and FPGAs instead, i.e. Xilinx's Virtex-E XCV600E.
