The JavaFX 2.0 beta SDK (for Windows only) has been released and is available to download from the JavaFX website. There is also a Java FX 2.0 beta plugin for NetBeans available too (installation instructions here).

This is the first time developers who are not part of the JavaFX Partner Program will get a chance to see the changes expected in Java FX 2.0. As most of the new features are incompatible with the last release, JavaFX 1.3.1, it's best to start afresh with new JavaFX applications.

Documentation for the JavaFX 2.0 beta release can be found online including the new JavaFX 2.0 beta APIs.

According to the roadmap, Java FX 2.0 is still expected to be released sometime in third quarter of 2011.
